Submitting I-485 with J-1 visa

Hi all,

I filed I-140 (NIW/EB2) in VSC with J-1 visa. If it\'s approved, can I file I-485 with J-1 visa! Because, I-485 takes long time and probably, I\'ll be able to get J-1 waiver by this time.

Hi:
First of first, you have to get the approval of the NIW. Then, you can go ahead to work on the I-485. Let\'s assume that you have had your approval of I-140 (NIW). Now, to my understanding, you have to get the J-1 waiver before you can file the I-485. So, it is not like that you can file I-485 and wait for the approval of J-1 waiver.

Thanks for the information. Do you have any idea how long approved I-140 is valid,i.e. how long I can wait before submitting I-485!
