I submited my I-485 application form on 05/30/03. I received a receipt notice a couple days ago (Received date: June 5, 2003; Notice Date: June 5, 2003).

What's next? When do I expect a fingerprinting notice? I tried to check my status online, and I could not find my case online. What is happening? I thought once I receive my receipt notice, I will be able to check my statuses online.

I know I have to wait for long....long....long....time, but I just want to make sure everything is on track and try to understand the procedures better.

Their online feature is having problems. Do not worry if your number is not showing.

Most asylees will not hear from the BCIS until a few months before your case is up for approval. So just forget it for now and enjoy life. Your green card will come eventually.

CCHong. they will not ask you for fingerprints since they expire after 15 months. Unfortunately, your case will take much longer than this 15 month period :( I hope the law changes and someone pays attention to this inhumane condition of the asylum process that requires a period of 10 years to get an adjustment.

Gilbert and Shamshon,

Thanks for the info.

I did find out that some of you have started the writing campaign to the Congress. I printed out a copy and would do some modifications to fit my situation.

I do hope the 10,000 limit will be removed and increased soon. This law does not make any sense.
