File the 485 in Mid December. My eldest child is nearly 14 so the lawyer applies as if an adult, paying the full fee and the fingerprint fee.
Vermont gets around to opening the mail at the end of January – spends the stuff back for the Eldest child saying that as the age of 14 has not been reached they cannot process as an adult. They want us to re files as a child.
So a new application and fee goes to Vermont. They take another 2 months to open the documents. Then send a letter back with the childs fee saying that now my Eldest is 14 (birthday while waiting for Vermont to open the post) the Adult fee will apply.
My lawyer thought this might happen so he attached both fees – they have NOW taken the adult one.
So I finally get a reciept number- 3 months after the rest of the family.
With that our friends in Vermont also send a notice to say that no fingerprint fee has been attached and if one is not returned in 90 days then the application will be considered abandoned.
This is despite them writing in January to say that NO fingerprint fee would be required.
So if they really wanted the full adult fee and fingerprint fee then WHY didn’t they take it in January when it was in front of them!!!!!!!
Sometimes this stunning idiocy makes me want to go to vermont and kick everyone up the arse until they realise that they are dealing with peoples lives here – not just bits of paper.
