Hi guys,

I plan to pursue an IT course in one of the community college in US and and durations that I interested is about 1 to 1.5 years. However, I have few queries that need some urgent answers.

My concern are as below:

1. Can I work outside the campus while study? this is because I need money to fund my study and daily expenses

2. What type of visa will this be? Can I bring my wife as dependant for this visa?

3. An Extension to the question above, can my wife work?

4. Any terms and conditions?

5. What if I found a company that willing to sponsor me while I still in college? It is possible to covert the visa to work visa. Can I stay on and work with the company that willing to sponsor me while waiting for the visa to be approve?

6. What are the other visa that I can look at? On the other side, I have a uncle that stays in Atlanta, Georgia and willing to sponsor me. I do know that uncle can't sponsor a nephew or niece. So, what other aspect I can look into to obtain a valid visa.

7. I also came across that there is lottery system even there is a company willing to sponsor me?

Thank you for reading and hope to hear some positive feedback.

Simon

1-no
2.F1 visa, your wife F2.
3-no
4-no work what so ever
5-With a sponsor, you can work but i doubt it as community college student.
6-it doesnt work this way.
7-if you win the lottery, all your life will be different in usa.

1. You can work on campus up to a certain number of hours. You can work outside campus on CPT, OPT, or if you get employment authorization for economic hardship. CPT and OPT must be in your area of study and have other conditions. To get a student visa, you are supposed to show that you have enough funds already to pay for your studies, so the fact that you think you need to work to pay for it will not be very good for your visa application.
2. F1. Yes, wife F2.
3. No, unless she gets economic hardship.
4. n/a
5. It's possible. You cannot work until you have the work visa status.
