Student visa--urgent issue

Got offer from Dallas University...they need financial affidavit...getting affidavit from US(my bro-in-law) will be better or shall i arrange from India itself?? What will be better from Visa point of view?? Any thoughts/expereinces. Got to reply to University in 2-3 days. Please help me.

What visa are you changing from? Visitor to F1?

In the past prospective students have been able to get affidavit of support from relatives based in US provided they are on F1 visa to begin with. For change of status from visitor to F1 dont know if the INS will reply in 2-3 days window you are looking at, moreover it is U of D that will give you the I-20 from their International Student office.
