Hi,

I've a valid H1 visa (from my current employer) stamped on my passport. Now, I'm getting married in India this June. My fiancee is resident in Maharashtra, and hasn't been to US before. I'm trying to schedule an interview appointmet for her H4, but the B'bay consulate seems packed up until end of August. Although there are available dates at other consulates, I suppose my fiancee has to apply at the B'bay consulate since she has been living in Maharashtra.

I'm trying to work a way in which she can get her visa stamped at another consulate. Since I'm working in US, I believe I can apply at either of the four consulates, and get my wife's visa simaltaneously. But, I already have a valid H1 visa. In that case, can I volunteer for a H1 visa re-stamping for myself? Is this allowed? Do you know anyone who has done that, or if you have any insights on this?

I would greatly appreciate any response.

Thanks in advance!

kinda in the same boat as you are.
I do not think you can volunteer to re-apply for your h1 visa; since this is a strain on the resources of the consulates.
one can consider applying at other consulates such as singapore (walk-in) or canada (shorter wait time) for the spouse. I am investigating this some more..........please pm me if you find some other information.
