I am US citizen filing a I-130 for unmarried son in June 9th 2009,i file for him and i received a notice about two weeks after saying they have received my application and will proceed accordingly, its a yr now and when i check the status, it still says Initial Review, i frequently check to see if the status will change, but it hasn't..Can some please let me know how long it will stuck in this stage, is this normal??? what i can do?? Your answer will be greatly appreciated...

I-130 can take a couple of years to approve for unmarried children over 21. My mom (LPR) has applied I-130 in July 2003 and it got approved in June 2005. Hope this helps..
So dont get panic.

Ok, Thank you for replying.. I know it takes 5-6 yrs, but i didn't know it will stuck in initial review for a longtime...Can someone please post there journey of the same situation. Thanks

The reason why it states "Initial review" because there is no purpose of approving your I-130 at this time. It won't make you eligible for immigration benefits. You still need to wait for priority date to become current. Sorry for being blunt, but that's the reason why they don't approve your I-130 immediately.
