Stuck in FBI name check

What is the phone number to check if the FBI clearance check has completed or not. Is there a fax number I can fax enquiry to speed the process. I am assuming that this is the part of the FP review. I did FP in May, no update yet.

Yeah -- and 1 more thing ... the name check is not part of the FP process.

They are 2 different things .... FP and name check have 2 diff FBI numbers.

if name check and FP are two different things, then can u tell me when is name check done? Is it done before issuing FP?

Thanks for the info. I called 304 625-5590 and was told my FP was already completed and sent back to INS. So what is the number to ask status about name check?

Call 202 324 2399 (have your A# and DOB ready)
I think you'll get a callback in a day or two.
 
Just send a fax 5 min ago

Send a fax is more effective. It takes FBI 4 weeks to reply the fax by email. Use 202-324 3367. I just did, the fax went through.

I am stuck in name check too.

How do you know that you are stuck in name check?
 
I ask Congressman for help. His immigration assistant helped me file a congressional inquiry on my case, I was told my case was stuck at name check. That is how I know.

When you called, did they check your FP using your Social Security number? if not, what was the information that they asked for to make an inquiry?

Usually they can locate ur record on the basis of
A#, Full Name, DOB & maybe WAC number ( but this is not needed most times).

Typically Name check is initiated by CIS whenever they feel like it !!

They pull your case and see that name check is not done yet - they can send it for name check.
Unlike FP, there is no indication to you that a name check has started ( maybe a LUD change ).
 
For most of people who filed before Nov 2002 the name check requests were sent in Dec 2002- Jan 2003. During that time the FBI received almost 3 million name check requests.
Some of these name check requests were completed only recently (like mine). A couple of thousands (or something like this) are still pending.

I am unlucky one with common name, pending from 9/03-future
although my wife's completed in April 04
 
My name check was completed within 12 days of the my I-485 ND.

So it appears they initiated the name check as soon as they received the case.
 
Hi - please scroll up to message # 6 on this same thread. You will find both the FBI inquiry numbers, for the name check, as well as the fingerprint check.

By searching the internet. There are quite many people in the same boat who share their stories/ official replies/etc. As I said my name check had been pending for 19 months before they cleared me.
