Strange situtaion after getting I-551 STAMPED on passport

My family got approved on Jan 28 2004. Before 20 DAYS of approval we changed our Address and submitted AR-11.
All our approval letters came to our new adress.

1)I got approval letter mentioning to go for passport stamping
2)My wife and kids got welcome notice and will be receiving cards
3)My kids got physical green cards before we went for passport stamping and so i did not take my kids for stamping
4)With my approval letter and my wife welcome notice went to Local office for stamping and got both of our passports stamped.
5)On the web site after 2 weeks the online status for all of us shows that mail was undeliverable
6)Called INS and told the issue and they updated my information.
7)Got my physical green card.
8)For my spouse they told me that they are going to send A duplicate notice to get I-89 Done in local office

Now my Question is my wife already has I-551 stamp on the passport .If i take the notice and go to local office will they allow again to do I-89

Any suggestions or recommendation will be very valuable

Any valuable suggestion would be very helpful as i am in dilemma whether to call INS or take that notice and go to local service center

Whats the confusion ?

Your wife need to do an I-89, so whats the issue. Maybe her earlier one is missing, and they can't track that. She needs to go and do that if she wants the physical card ,right ? They are not going to stamp the passport again, just take her thumb print on I-89.
