Strange message about EAD on VSC\'s automated phone system

I just checked my EAD application\'s status and I got the following message:
"On May 1st after approving your application we ordered a new card for you, processing usually takes between 60 and 90 days. We\'ll mail you the card as soon as it\'s ready."
What card are the talking about? Is EAD a plastic card? How come it still says it takes 60-90 days?

EAD is a plastic card. Message means that you application is approved but the physical card will be mailed to you in 60-90 days. In my case it took them less than 30 days after approving the application.

I got the same message for my wife\'s EAD. My questions is my wife want to change her job, can she go to the new company without the plastic card? say, we can show then the audio proof from INS.

Anybody with the knwoledge/experience please help me. Thanks!

I think you need the physical EAD card to start new job. There is I-9 form needs to be filled for while using the EAD.

Hope this helps.

Even after H1 to EAD change with the same employer, one needs to fill the form.
