Hello Gang,
I had my US Citizenship interview on July 26. The IO was a Chinese and was definitely struggling with English. Here's what happened:
1. Swore that I would tell the truth
2. Gave the IO my GC, DL and passports
3. The IO asked me questions from the N400 form - my name, address, etc....
4. The IO verified departure / arrival dates from the passport and the form
5. The IO went over the rest of the N400 form in Question format
6. The IO gave me a sheet with 10 questions towards the US History and Civics tests
7. The IO gave me the English reading and writing test
8. That's it...The IO said I was done and gave me a paper saying that they would mail me their decision.
Basically the paper says - A decision cannot yet be made about your application.
I asked The IO - if there were any issues - The IO said that they have yet to review my file and would let me know.

Possible Issues with my case - I had extensive trips out of the US (none longer than 6 months)...but....who knows.

Anyone here experience something similar and care to share ?

It is now almost 3 months since the interview and I have not received any communication. I have been checking my status online and have also called....but really not much information there. I have now changed jobs and moved to another state - will that cause a problem ?

Thanks much....

Hello Dumas, where is your DO?

Dumas, did you notify USCIS of your change of address? You are required to do this; it says so on every letter you get from USCIS, including your interview results paper.

IO was struggling with English, that's hilarious. And conducted an English language test on you, that's ironic.

IO are government servants (isn't it), so "for sure" they are either USC by birth or naturalized USC.

Lets assume he was a naturalized USC then he must have gone through same English test during his naturalization interview and after all these years working in public service office like USCIS he still could not speak good English, and that is why he asked you answers to 10 printed questions, that is a shame. I have never heard anyone stating that he/she was given 10 printed questions to answer during naturalization interview.

God bless USA.

I've just moved last week - so don't have a permanent address yet...will update USCIS when I get a permanent address in MI.

Hello Komar,
My DO was Philadelphia, PA. I have just moved to Michigan.
Hope you get your answer soon. I was under the impression that USCIS mail do not get forward to a new address by the post office. Thus there is the chance that your response from USCIS was sent to your old address and not forwarded to your new one. Good luck.
