I want to apply for extension of stay for my parents who are here on visitor visa. I read here that a copy of the return ticket must be sent along with the I539 as proof of intentions of going back. However, my parents had purchased a round trip ticket which is only valid till February. When I spoke to the travel agent regarding extending the tickets, I was told these tickets couldn't be extended. They can either use them before Feb. and go back home or throw them in the garbage. So to apply for the extension I have to buy new tickets. But travel agent says she needs specific dates for travel in order to book new tickets - which I can't give her without knowing the outcome of the extension. My question is how do people who apply for extension deal with this? I am sure I don't have all the information because many people have applied for extension before me - there must be some piece I'm missing. Kindly help out.
