Step by Step process to GC

Hi,
Iam on L1.
Can anyone point me to any link that explains step by step process to obtain a GC (Employer based)...All I know is it takes years to get one, and the lawyers will do it. But just curious to know the process and understand the terminologies.. bcos in this forum i read abt PERM, I-140, etc etc, which does not make much sense to me.

you will not need perm at all if you are L-1a. I take you are L1a. your employer will apply 140 for you and then you can apply 485 under EB1c category. Thats the entire step by step process for an L1a Multinational executive visa holder. You can apply both 140 and 485 concurrent also saves you a little time but it is the fastest under employment base.
 
L1b has tough thing as 1st step is your company has to apply for 140 for you. If that company applies 140 for you then everything is very simple and fast compare to any other employment base. If your company doesnot apply for your 140 then only your dependent who is L2 can do it as she can apply. the procedure can be explained to you through your attorney.
