my brother wants to study outside USA. (upto 4 to 8 years)

he has greencard. can he stay outside of us for a longer period of time.

does he have to apply any thing before leaving usa.

will this affect greencard or future citizenship

He can stay outside of US for 4 to 8 years as you say, but he will lose his green card. He can apply for the returning resident's permit, but again, he cannot keep his green card for that long (4 to 8 years) even with this permit.

His plans for the US citizenship, if any, will get jeopardized.
