Stay more than 1 year outside USA

ear Rajiv, I need your precious advice. I am in a very difficult situation in China, regarding my Green Card. During the financial crisis I accepted to sign a 1 year contract as an English Teacher, China. My contract will expire on February, when I can finally return to USA to stay with my sons. Do you think that I will have problem when I return? I hold a Brazilian Passport with my USA VISA still available and I have my Green Card, too. If I break my contract they will not pay my flight ticket to return. I want to be fair with them too, the students need me. Do you have any suggestion? If they ask me how long I stay in China, can say like 3 or 4 month? They have files that show that I left USA more then one year? Thank you, so much for your kindness and support, thanks

hi.....

do you have re-entry permit to stay more than 1 year ? Bcos with greencard, you CANNOT stay more than one year -- my wife returned to USA after 11 months and 3 weeks, she got a warning from immigration officer ....they have all files -- so if you need to retain greencard status, then you must enter USA before 1 year and stay atleast a day and return to China ....

my friend dont take a chance, specially never lie to an immigration officer. He can find out in right away.... do your best to come before one year. if you cant, tell me him the truth, he ll give you a warning, worst case scenario send you in front a judge. If you lie, you loose that privilege.

As soon as you accept a job with a Non-US company, it amounts to you giving up your Green card.
