Stay in Canada area & work in US

Hi

I got residency in March-2003 & landed in July that year.I have PR status valid till Nov-2008.I have to be there by Nov-2006 to maintain my status.The US GC is distant dream now with retrogession & Philly BEC.

I was wondering if

1) One could stay on US-Canada border ( say in Windsor area ,MI ) & work in Detroit with everyday travel across the border?
2) Do we need to prove that we worked for certain no of hrs in Canada per year to the Canadian Immigration to maintain the residency ?

I had read some time back that people do it.
Experts please reply

Yes you can stay in Windsor and commute to USA. File NR tax in US and later file TAX in Canada till you get your canada citizenship
