status updated to Notice sent on my I-485

ND: 12/28/2001

Today I found my status got updated to "Notice sent". I have couple of questions. I appreciate all your responses.
1.
Does this mean an RFE? Do they use term RFE or notice?
2. I had my 1st RFE in Apr'03 and I myself replied with w2, paystubs and EVL. But nothing happened.
Should I use a lawyer this time to answer this RFE? Any advantages??

that's RFE

BCIS is never says RFE, According your message that is RFE and get ready for usual stuff pay stubs, EVL, TAX RETURNS , medical exam results, DOB certificate or marriage certificate.
