Status Question while I-140 pending

Hi all,
I am on my 7th year H1 extension. I got my labor cleared couple of months back and applied for I-140 and it is still pending. couldnt apply for 485 due to retrogression. my company is going through downsizing.. my question is , if i get laid off..
will i be in legal status (i have h1 for another 7 mos)
if i join another company can i still apply for 1 year extensions.
if i aplly for a green card again, can i retain my original priority date.
what are my options ?

Legal Only if you have a job within a month or so.

if i join another company can i still apply for 1 year extensions.

NOPE. Unless your old company still keep your GC and I140 alive or not subsitute it to anyone else. You need to deal with them.

NOPE unless your old I140 approved and your old company keep it alive forever and keep you as beneficial. If for any reason, your previous company subsitute that I140 or revoke it, you lose everything.
