1.If you have 6 months remaining on your H1B and your employer has filed for LC (first step for Green card) and your I-140 is filed with INS then you can get extension of you H1B visa beyond 6 years.
2. If you feel that you may get laid off, then apply for PR papers to RPC Buffalo, but I do not think you will recieve your PR(Landing Papers) in 6 months at the same time I know a person who got PR in 6 months, but normaly it does not happen in 6 months.
3. If you are laid off or you go to India your PR application will not be affected, but if they need to Interview you at later date than you should have US Visa to come to US to attend the interview, but you should inform them about your ADDRESS CHANGE and it can be done only when you will get your File NO, you normaly get your File No 6-8 weeks after you submit your application to Buffalo with all the papers and correct fees.
4 Once you recieve the file NO you can also get your file transfered to India (Canadian High Commission Delhi) by paying some small fee, but once you transfer you file from US to India the CASE will be treated as FRESH and you will have to wait longer in India to get PR.
You could have done this 4-5 months earlier!!!
I hope this helps!!
