Status of OCI App

Hi everyone,

I mailed off my OCI app to the Washington consulate last week, but then stupidly threw away the sheet of paper with my USAWxxx... registration number. Is there a way to find it or check on the status of my app? Will I get some sort of confirmation of receipt or something that will have the number?

Not sure how WA does it, but in NY, it seems like you need that number. Maybe you could call them and explain the situation? They may look it up for you...

I am not sure of any other way.

Otherwise, will it be a problem if I don't find it? I don't mind just waiting for some sort of notification from the embassy that my application has been approved, or that I need to send my passport for the sticker, or whatever.
 
In NYC, you have to know your number. There is no notification from the consulate. You have to check the web.

Not sure how it is elsewhere.
