We (my wife, son and I) applied for permanent residency about 8 months ago at Vermont service center (I140 and I485 concurrently along with I765 (EAD)) under EB1 extraordinary ability. Our check was encashed and we received letters of notice. We got our EADs in about two months. When I check the status of our I485, it says standard answer that I485 was received on such and such date. It is taking x number of days to y number of days to process this kind of cases etc.
HOWEVER, when I do the same procedure for my I140, it gives following error.

l Status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the service center where you submitted your application. Unquote
When tried the 1800-375-5283,

file can not be found at this time, please double check your receipt number.
unquote
message comes.
My attorney has checked with the local immigration office and advised me that local office can check the status of my I140 and has no problem.
Did anybody face similar problem? Your input and/or advice will be highly appreciated.
