status after approval before interview

my GC has been approved but I haven't been through the interview yet. My OPT ends on December. Can I still be in the country and work after if expired since my GC is pending?
 
sorry it's approved. What I meant is that it is in process. Does this mean that meanwhile I can stay in the country and work?
 
I think it's approved because when I log on with my nr. to see the status of the case on the official website, it says this case is approved. But all the paperwork is handled by the lawyer, so maybe she has the approval letter.
