Statement of Reason and AOS after Marriage

My wife is teaching in a high school in the United States with the J-1 visa. This is her second year. We just married. My I-485 was submitted without her long before the marriage. The I-485 application is still pending due to the cut-off date regression. My PD may become current again late this year.

I have two questions:

1. It is unlikely she could find a new job sponsoring H1-B. If she keeps the current J-1 job and files the J-1 waiver application based on no objection, what should we say in the Statement of Reason? I searched the forum and most examples are for people with a different research job or H1-B pending.

2. Assume the J-1 waiver is approved after I receive the green card, is it still possible to file I-485 for her inside the U.S.? I understand it is possible to file follow-to-join from a consulate outside U.S. Is it possible for her to stay in the U.S. as J-1 holder (with the waiver) and adjust the status? We know she may not be able to extend J-1 after the waiver.

I appreciate any information. Thanks very much!
