starting date of the 2nd AP?

I am to renew AP. I am wondering if the starting date of the 2nd AP approximately begins from the date you renew it or the expiring date of the 1st AP.

My 1st AP will expire in Sep. I need to travel and leave the country a while from Aug.

This may be a simple question, Thank you to repy.

start date is ap approval date

my first AP expired Feb 2003 and i had applied for 2nd AP in Dec 2002. The 2nd AP was approved on Jan 28 2003 and that is the start date of my 2nd AP. An overlap of 1 month.

Approved date would be the effective date

In most of the cases the approved date would be the effective date. My First AP is going to expire on March 23. 2003, When I applied for my Renewal, The notice date was Jan 2, 2003 and Approved date was Jan 20, 2003 and date issued was 01/20/03 and will be authorized prior to 01/19/04 in to the US.
