starting company with EAD

Can we start a company with EAD. What are the rules and restrictions.
Can we work for it directly?
Can we use the company as secondary job?
Can we write checks on behalf of company and can we take in profits?
Can the spouse (with EAD cleared as well) work and get paid from the company?

Yes you can. The only restriction is that you cannot form an S-Corp. (Citizens or PRs only)

Yes you can work for it directly. (But remember that you MUST maintain your fulltime position with your sponsor. You cannot sponsor yourself through your company. In fact, you cannot get a GC through a company that you or a relative own more than 5% of)

It has to be a secondary job.

You can do anything for the company that you would normally do when running a business. There are no restrictions.

Yes, your spouse can work for the company.

I started a company a couple of years ago on my EAD. I have since received my GC so there are no problems.
