Hi everyone!
my question is after I got married I've changed my maiden name to married name but in process of green card application I got rid of my my first name and start using my middle name as my first name. My green card arrived last month it has my middle name as my first name with my married name. So now it doesnt match my passpot. If I travel to my home country would that be problem?

It may possibly NOT create a problem. Since GC is the document that is required to get into the US in your case, ID's such as your picture, fingerprint etc will prove that it is YOU, so my guess is you won't have any problems.

OTOH, when you go to the SSN Office to remove the annotation, you will face problems as your name on the PP doesn't match with the one on the GC.

This problem is what I can think of in the near future. Five years down the line, when you apply for Citizenship you will face heck of problems due to name mismatches.

So, it is better to correct the name rightaway on the GC citing your PP as an example. File I90 with appropriate option, you should be fine.

I am not sure on how long would it take to get the corrected GC from USCIS.

Good luck

Change your name at the local county courthouse officially and then updated records for your drivers license and social security. After that, get the passport updated/renewed with the correct new name.

Then you're all set.
