Stamping ordeal at Boston

Stamping at Boston is a royal pain now.
Here is my ordeal.

Earlier Stamping used to be done in a different room in Boston.
You did not have to go the main queue, it was separate.

Well now its not.
You have to first get a number from the main queue and then wait, and wait and wait and then wait some more.

Went last week at 10:00am and was told they have run out of numbers.
Went again today at 6:00am and there were 50 people already waiting outside the main door enterance, and another 50 outside the side door enterance.

Went through the side door at 7:00am
At 7:30am got the number 418.
That meant 18 people ahead of me for stamping.
The estimated time on the ticket said 1:50mins.

I was mentally prepared that it will take the whole day.
And it did.

My turn came at about 11:30am They were averaging about 20mins per family.

Got out of that place around 12:30.

One lady got the number 498 and that was 80 people after me.
If they were taking 20 mins per family, then her turn would come after 40 hours.

Once again was subjected to a horrible experiance by INS.

The irony is that I might have to go through this again as my wife's case is still not approved. 8-(

Hope this helps.
If you have to go to Boston please make sure you get there around 6:00am, or even before, and see which queue is shorter, the main enterance or the side enterance.

And plan to take the whole day off, take a book, read newspapers. Notice I said papers, because one will not be enough

Sounds horrible!!!
Do they allow you to bring food, pillow, etc. to make your waiting more comfortable? :)

I don't understand what you guys expect ?

Just a Drive-through stamping facility on a fast moving conveyor belt?
20 min seems reasonable to verify the passports and do stamping. If there are many people on that day , it takes more time...

every thing CONSUMES some time

say ..to drive from your home to office. It is impossible to be in office the moment you think about it at home :D:D

have patience and
Think Practical ....

seems you are loosing your basic common sense

this is typical

I see nothing out of ordinary in this "ordeal". I wouldn't expect anything better.

They have successfully beaten down my expectation over the years. (Good job, guys!) Now even if my case takes all day in Boston, I would still feel lucky that they did not ask me to send it to Vermont.

Remember, they used to call themselves "INS".
