Stamping in Chicago and Social Security Card

I am planning to get the green card stamp Tuesday (1/22).
Could anyone please tell me:

1. Is it still possible for me to get the stamp the same day
if I arrive in the Chicago INS office around between 9 and 10 AM?
I know it sounds too late, but I may have to stop by my lawer\'s office
first to get the notice because as of today I still have not received my
courtesy copy yet. I don\'t mind waiting there. It\'s been a long wait
already.

2. Where is the nearest SSA office so I can renew my SS card right
after stampping? What should I bring?

Thanks

No Title

There is a the "nearest office" locator at http://www.ssa.gov.
Better call the office you located in advance in case of
an appointment being required.

You only need to bring your old SSN card in addition to
your PR documents (passport with the stamp) and ID
document (which can be served by the passport anyway).

The INS may not update their system immediately
so that the SSA may has a hard time confirming
your PR. So it may take a little bit longer
to get a new SSN card if you apply right after
passport stamping.
