Stamping in Cand after I-94/Visa expiry

I have my new I-797 but cannot get appointment before my current visa expires. Wil they stamp in canada if I go to them with an expired visa on my passport? I am not out of status as I have the new I-797

---- Yes, you can go for visa stamping in Canada with your new I-797. They will stamp or not is a different issue altogether
---- Take and appointment and go to Canada only if you must. Currently if do not need the visa you don't need to go
