hello,
i got my h1 approved from oct-1,04, and i am currently in my o.p.t.

i assume it is not a must i go before oct 1st to india-to get my h1 visa stamped-i plan to go jan/feb'05-is the h1 "quota" still applicable-could i be denied visa saying the quota is over.

can i go to canada for stamping-i know about the risk of not able to enter u.s. if denied there-anybody been to canada recently for h1 stamping?

awaiting reply, thanks for the same

You do not need to be worried about the quota since, your H1 is already approved.

Consulate would care less about quota, It is the BCIS which controls it and you've already passed the hurdle.

BTW, I've been out of touch with F1/OPT/H1 thingy. Do the OPT people need to go back to get a stamp on the passport or it is optional?

optional

hello,

within the period of your h1 validity-u need to go to u.s embassy outside u.s and get ur visa changed to h1-to make it multiple entry to make travel easier.

that is what i understood of this whole thing

That it is if you want to travel.

If you want to start work it is not reqd. If there are no travel plans or travel plans for home country are near, then should get it done at home country.
