Stamping-Expired. Visa till 2004

My H1 stamping expired in Oct-2001. I got the H1 extension in March 2002 which is valid till 2004. As I planning to visit India, will there be any problem if I do the stamping in India? or it is better to it here.?
 
It is preferable if you do the stamping here itself. This is becuase of frequent changes in rules with documents required in India and also time required for stamping in India can vary, thereby affecting your travel plans.
 
Prefer to do the stamping here, but as your visa stamp is expired more than a year ago, the state dept. may not put another stamp in the U.S.

Check the dept. of State web site or call them up to see if they will validate despite visa expiry more than a year ago, else you will waste a couple of months only to hear the DOS will not stamp your passport here.
