Hi,

Today me and my wife went for stamping in Chicago. We reached the office by 7am, right when the doors were opened. There was a decent crowd. Went through the security, got a token number.
And at 8:35am it was our turn, officer asked for photos, passport, approval notice and current EAD. He also asked for my previous EAD's and AP, I told her that I did not get them, she just asked me to mail them later.
Took the finger prints and signature, passport stamped with validity for 1yr.
Was out of the office by 8:45am.

question

Hi, gcwait4ever,
I will also go to Chicago.
Did you use your courtersy approval copies or the ones from your attorney?
I still use H1 and didn't apply the EAD. Do I need to hand in my H1?

Thanks.

:)

Thanks gcwait4ever for posting your stamping experience in Chicago.
In fact we are planning to go on 28th.
We got approval letters to go to Newark, NJ.
Since we moved IL my attorney advised us to go to Chicago.

Can I make sure that we are going to correct office:
10 W Jackson Blvd.
Chicago
Room no. 218.

Do we need to take appointment?
Can you also let us know about parking.
Is it better go by car or any other means is better?

We have all the documents what ever you mentioned
except my wife's old EAD, which is misplaced and we want to tell
the same thing to the concerned officer.

Thanks

gcwait4ever,
I plan to go to have passport stamped at Chicago this week. But I haven't got the notices from the lawyer yet. Wonder if I can bring the courtersy approval notice.

Thanks

Did they mention in your copy that it is courtesy copy?
Any way I heard from many people in this forrum that
you can go with courtesy copy.
At the worst what will happen they may deny and ask you to bring
original.
Good luck

Yes, it stated that it's courtesy copy.

arb123, gcwait4ever,
I plan to go to Chicago next Monday. Wonder if you can tell
1. Does GC stamping has to go to the same waiting line?
2. Did you park you car nearby? how much is the parking? I've been to Chicago downtown a few times and know that finding a parking space is difficult (and expensive)

Thanks.

arb123, good luck in your stamping tomorrow :)

Got our passport stamped yesterday at the Chicago office.

No problem at all... pretty smooth sailing except for a 2-hour wait in the queue.

We reached the USCIS office in downtown Chicago at 1:00 pm (the office hours are from 7 am - 2 pm Monday thru Thursday). We had a late start since we got my wife's notice Fedexed by our lawyer and we got it only at 11 am.

We had to wait for 2-hours in the queue, but the actual stamping and fingerprinting process took less than 2 minutes.

The officer took our EADs and APs.

All the best to the rest of the group for their approval! :) :) :) :) :)

Can gcwait4ever or someone please answer my questions?
Thanks.

Your copy is just sufficient to get the stamping done. They will take that and not return that back. DO NOT TAKE THE ATTORNEY'S COPY WITH YOU. If they see that copy they will take that too. They are like parched land. The more water you pour the more it will absorb. Keep the Attorney's copy with you because its the only original that you would have.

I personally would take the attorney's copy along with me when I travel outside the US eventhough the stamp on the PP is sufficient, just incase some idiot at a foreign airport tries to act smart.

You can park your car @ a public parking lot on the side of State St(south of the USCIS building ($6 for all day).

Thanks mi2004. Any idea about the H1? Do I need to turn it in?
:)

But actually, my H1 is just the I-94 stub not the real stamp. So what is the answer now?

Thanks. :)

You should return the new H1 I-94 stub with your old one(I-94) and keep the rest part(top and right) of your H1 approval notice.
;) :D
