Stamping Experience at Newark

Hello friends

Was contemplating what time to to reach Newark BCIS as I had heard and read different opinions about either reaching there before 8 am or after 10am. Anyhow, because of the crappy weather today, got to the BCIS office , 970 Broad Street, Newark at 945am. Parked at a lot at the side of the bldg costed us $ 8.95 since we ended up being there for more than 2 hrs.

We went to the back of the bldg as advised by people on this forum. Lucky us, there was a fire drill going on , hence everyone was out of the bldg on the streets to add more commotion to the already confused lot. There were about 25 people ahead of us. About 25 minutes later, we got to get in. Loads of people starting pouring in from the side of the bldg, obviously people who had stood in the wrong line.

We were given a green token asking us to report to the 2nd floor room 200. After regular airport style security check, we got to the 2nd floor at about 1015am. Stood in another queue, were assigned another set of token numbers and dispatched to the 10th floor room 1022. It was about 1025am then.

Were asked to be seated , numbers were called in batches. First we got called for the I89 form at about 1045am. Were asked to just sign the form and DO NOT FILL IT OUT. And then the wait continued. About 2 hours later, our numbers were called. The IIO , a polite lady Ms Cadillo, took our documents one at a time and asked regular questions. It barely took her 10 minutes to finish the whole thing. I reconfirmed my address with her. My spouse's case was still showing the old address , hence aksed her to correct the same ( this is inspite of sending the AR-11 forms). Were asked to be seated (again ..) until our names were called about 15 minutes later where another person took our passports to stamp it. 10 minutes later she arrived with the passports , obiviously with the same EAC and A# on both of them.

Since time and again, people on this forum had advised to verify this info, I checked and asked the lady to correct that info.

Finally we got the stamps at 1:15pm. And she told us the cards would arrive in about 6-12 months :)
Of course I am sure she meant it as 6 - 12 weeks, doesn't matter.

Since the SSN office was just next door, we applied for the restriction to be removed from our SSN cards too. That took us about another half hour.

Total time spent today about 4 hours , excluding the commute.

I wish each one of you waiting the very best for speedy approvals. May god bless us all !

Thanks
phoaupkari.
