I had appointment on 6th jan'05 and I and my wife went there with my I-485 , EAD, AP and Photograph
I had chicago address in my I-485 notice. They saw my chicogo address As soon as I went to representive and they told me that we can not stamp here. They told me also that you have to visit chicago office and stamp there or you have to provide resident proof of Marlyland. Unfortuntly I did not have any proof from maryland eventhoug my driver licence was from Virgnia. I was trying to convince them but they were not ready listen me.
Then I went back to my home and collected all the documents(lease paper,bank statment, medical paper etcc....) and went back again to INS office.
Then I got the stamp done in passport yesterday(so painfull for me).
Still I did not understand one thing that they always keep original I-485 with them right?
But in my and wife case, they put the stamp saying that we have received your applications and they gave me back I-485 original copy with that stamp for me and my wife.
I don't know what is right?
