Hi everyone,

I just returned from a week long business travel.

This is what the POE officer did, which I think is not normal.

She asked me for my EAD card. She asked me for all copies of my AP paper and stamped it all and kept 1 sheet with her. Now the sheet I have with me is already stamped and I do not have any new (empty) ones.

Now my question is, I am going on a business trip again in October, can I use the AP that has been stamped?

Do thye ask for EAD at POE? strange. May be inexperienced officer.

She was inexperienced

This offficer was indeed inexperienced. I tried to let her know that she didnt need to see the other AP's but she was adamant. She said, next time make copies of the AP for my records as she will take originals.

She was so unexperienced that she had to look through her records of how to mark the I-94. She took around 15-20 minutes.

The office also stamped 2 out of total 3 of my copies of AP since I only took 2 copies with me. He told me I could make re-entry according the stamp.

So don't worry about it.

Don't worry about it at all. You can use an AP with multiple stamps. Although NSC issues 3 original copies of AP, some other centers just issue two, still you can make multiple trips abroad.

Please bring a copy of your AP in your next Trip. You can give a copy to the office and please keep a copy of original for your future use.

Ap

During my first time entry the officer stamped on one page of AP (NY), on my second time entry they stamped on all three pages (Chicago) and returned to me all three pages. He further told me that it can be use for multiple entry within its validation period which was printed on the AP from INS and not the date written on stamp at POE.

Does the immigration officer at the POE ask for an EAD card. In my case my EAD is still pending with NSC. They approved my AP and sent 3 copies but the EAD application is still pending. I am assuming I can travel safely with just the AP documents.

Thanks,

You can make several trips on a stamped AP -- just make sure you have a stamped copy (in your case all your copies are stamped !!)

Just present one of the stamped AP at POE (when you come back again) and that would be stamped again (2 stamps now) - so on & so forth till the AP expires.

BTW, it was really dumb to ask for your EAD -- I don't even take it when I travel as the EAD clearly says "Not valid for re-entry into the USA" !!
I think some of these officers never paid attention to the training that they had had (assuming they are trained !!)
