Hi everyone,

I got recently approved and got a stamp of temporary green card in my RTD. I will be working abroad for a year and will be leaving early next month. I hope I will receive the actual card by then. But, if I do not receive the card, will the IOs at the port of entry be treating me as LPR or an asylee? Your comments will be appreciated.

Validity

Gino,
I would be concerned about the validity of the RTD if you are going to be away for a year. As far as treating you is concerned, looking up in their computer, they will know your status is PR.
Thanks

Punjabi Munda,

Thanks! But someone posted recently saying that even though he was approved and had the approval letter with him, he was treated as an asylee at the port of entry.

My RTD is vaild unil the end of Nov. 2006, I plan to return before that date and apply for re-entry permit.

Ok Gino,
I was the one with the approval notice in hand and officer said that does not mean that I am a GC holder,( probably he was lazy to do anything else).

You have got you RTD stamped? It means you have a stamp in your RTD that says GC holder? Could you please tell me what is saying over that paper?(Stamp)

And second question is you got Approcal notice, or Welcome Notice? or something else?

Thankyou

Nasrmobin, thanks! The stamp is hard to read, the only part that I can read says "lawful admission for permanent residence, valid unitl 3/7/2007."

I had to go to the local office for fingerprinting and signature, so the lady printed out an approval letter and stamped my RTD.
