hi guys,

As a dv winner who is actually in the US now, waiting for the physical green card to arrive, i was wondering if i am supposed to apply for the SSN myself or was an application already sent automatically when i entered the US?

what are your experineces?

sometimes SSA forgets to send you one.
you can directly go SSA for a SSN.

also apply a State ID or even Drive license would be good.
 
Yes . I also applied through DS230 and I waited till it comes for 1 month. But it didn't come. So I went to the nearest SSA office and applied again and got it within 2 weeks. Better wait for 3-4 weeks and apply if you don't receive it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it is not.

Don't wait for it because it will never come. Go to the nearest SS office an apply for it immediately.
