SSN record update after GC?

Can you please confirm whoever have updated their recor at Social Security office after the GC stamped.

Please share your experience.

I haven't

done it yet even though i got approved 2 months ago. Is it absolutely necessary ??

I am not sure if it is necessary since the SSA database has already been updated. However, it is very easy to apply one. Go to any local SSA office or the office next to BCIS, newark, NJ. Fill out the form and submit the old card, then after one week, the new SSN card will be in your mailbox.
