SSN Number

I applied SSN for my wife. Its one month now. Any idea how many days will it take to get SSN number.

It took 12 days for us ( 30 days looks quite long though ). Call up SSN office and verify your address / status.

I did that. They said sometimes it can take upto 4 months.

usually you can get the SS number over the phone couple of weeks after you have applied. The card takes longer to arrive. But all you need for any practical purposes is the number and not the card itself.
so, just call up.

Although it is kinda off topic....

you can go to the local IRS office and take your wife's passport and docs and get it on the spot....30 mins in and out....if there are not too many ppl...

IRS and SSN

I guess IRS and SS are different offices.

I went to the IRS local office to get my wife a TIN (Tax Identification Number), and yesterday we went to the SS office to get SSN. They are two different offices.
