SSN - GC issue

GC Approved on 11/7. Got stamping done on 11/20 in Arlington VA. No cards yet. Not alone in this category. However on 1/14/03, my wife and I went to the local SSN office to update the SSN card with GC status.

The SSN officer checked my A# in INS system and he said that the system has not been updated to show that I'm a permanent resident. He made copies of our passport stamping and said that they will send this copy to INS to confirm the green card has been approved and will send us new SSN cards. He was slightly surprised that system has not been updated after nearly two months but said that it may not be a major issue.

Has anyone had similar problems?
 
Same experience in San Jose SS office...

The system was not updated from INS yet. They took my old SSN card made copies of PP and gave me a letter saying applied for SSN and this letter does not permit work authorization and stuff.

Same here

Self and wife got PP Stamped at NYC Federal Plaza on 12/06/02. Went to the SS office upstairs on the same day. Funnily my wife's approval seems to have got into the system. The clerk at the window at the SS office verified it and my wife got her ss card in the mail in about 2 weeks. My approval was not in the system (I am the primary) . They took my ss card, copies of pp and said that they would verify stuff with the INS and then send me my ss card.
No letter was given, I asked for one but was told I would get one in the mail in 2 weeks (nothing has come so far). They asked me to come back if I did not get my ss card in 2 months. Meanwhile I am waiting for the GC card as well as the SS Card. I don't even have my old card. Nothing surprises me any longer when I deal with government agencies they are the same inefficient selves everywhere Sigh... :o
