SSN for Kid, Got 485 approval and Stamp on PP ?

Hi,

I got 485 approval and got my PP stamped, and my 4 year old baby got her green card ( plastic card ), already.

we were on H1 before.

So, our baby was on H4 and she has her Tax ID.

I want to know, If I have to apply and get a new SSN for her ?

Or her Tax id is enough ?

Can some one please help me ?

Might as well get an SSN card. That way when she's wants to work everthing's ready. All you have to do is go down to the SS office with the relevant documents (plastic card). Maybe you can wait, but why not just do it now?

Doesn't hurt to get SSN as well. Might be useful for many other places. Technically, Tax id enough from Tax return prospective.
 
I wonder if one can refuse to give out SSN except for social security purpose and tex purposes but still get along well like getting credir
card, loan, open bank account, go to school.

Schools as in primary and secondary schools need SSNs?

That does'nt matter!!!
I was curious as to if the primary and secondary schools can ask for the SSN ...?

They ask for SSN for recording purpose but I don't think it is
mandatory. Many non-PR alien children are attending school
too and they are not even ligible for SSN nowadays.

Beside SSA itself and IRS, the only agency that I know
has the legal authority to request you to give SSN
is USCIS per INA 264

The condition is easy to meet because everyone, even unlawful aliens,
need to file taxes
