my wife got H1 approval from Oct1st'2004. She was on H4 and her employer did a change of status from H4 to H1.
We went to SSN office and applied for her SSN. The lady there took all the required documents and told us that this need to be sent to INS for their approval. Once INS gets back to them, then only they can issue the SSN.
But my problem is that she has not given us any receipt or letter indicating we have submitted our application. When i asked her about the receipt, she said, they don't give any receipt/letter for these type of cases and the only thing is to wait for letter from them.
Has anybody had any similar experience with SSN office.
Please post you experience with applying SSN . Atleast we will know what's happening and how much time it's taking to get this and any issues?
