I am an international student (F1 visa) and I graduated in May 2012. During my final semester, I applied for a Employment Authorization (EAD) and received the card by mid May 2012. I am currently on OPT (Optional Practical Training, where I can work for one year with my F1 visa). I found out that I can apply for Social Security with my EAD card - So I gave it a little more than a months time and applied for my SSN in New York city on July 6, 2012. It has been a month and I still have not received my SS Card.
From what I read/heard, it normally take 2 weeks to receive the card - The SS office will check my information with the USCIS and issue me the card. I am starting to get worried and would like to know what should be my next step. I still haven't got a job and this is adding up to my worries.
I would appreciate your tips/comments/advice.
