SSN Card Question

For those who already received their SSN card based on EAD, that is based on I-485 (adjustment of status)... does it say "valid for work only with DHS authorization" or not???

what does that statement mean anyway??? and the difference of that with the regular ssn card???

Yes, if you apply based on EAD it will say that.

It just means that your employer (to whom you show the SSN) needs to verify that you are authorized to work (like a valid EAD). There is no difference really, except with the regular SNN you'd not have to show an EAD, just any form of ID.

Hi "Chicklet",

I saw in your previous posts that you applied for your SSN and were asked to wait 8 weeks for it to come. How did that go in your case? Have you got it yet? (I hope you already have it with you :-) ).
I`m asking because I received my EAD on Monday, Nov 3rd. I went to change my last name on my current SSN card on Tuesday, Nov 4th. I was told the same things as you and asked to wait up to 12 weeks for a new card!!!! I thought the lady in SS office was joking!!! But she wasn`t. :( I will go again next week and ask for my "SSN decision printout" (hopefully by then they get some kind of confirmation from USCIS or whatever they need to send me the new SSN card). Once I have the printout with my SSN I can hit DMV! And then I can wait for my SSN card to come in mail! :-)

Oh! also congrats on you IL!!!!! Good luck to you and let us know how GOOD it went!!!!:D
