SSN application! Pls help!

Dear all:

I am a J-1 holder (self-funded). I filed for SSN application thru a local office on Sep 12th. I went to the original office to check the status of my case on Nov 2nd. The officer told me that my status is still not verified. Did someone meet the same problem?
I sent a complaint by e-mail to SSA, and they said maybe I have to contact the local U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS). What's going on?

I got the answer!

There is someone with very similar personal information to mine. That guy already got the SSN. DHS thinks we are the same person.

In contrary, very low efficiency! :rolleyes:

But the social security officer is pretty nice!
