Can an EAD holder get a Social Security Number?

yes -- without SSN U cannot work.

My spouse is in H4 status got EAD now through my GC application. We are thinking of applying SSN, though we do not have intension to work by using EAD (To maintain H1 & H4 till we get GC). Now my doubt is, applying SSN for H4 holder will jeoperdise our non-immigrant status?
