Do I need to apply for my wife's SSN separately or it is sent without me applying for it? Reason I am asking this is because there was a section on the DS230 that asked whether I wanted her SSN to be mailed.
The experiences are varied across the board. Some folks got the SSN cards without going to the SSA office. Some (including yours truly) had to personally go to the SSA office and apply. It seemed to me that SSA offices in some regions are more efficient than others and if you happen to be in one of those regions, you should expect the SSN cards in the mail in a few weeks. Some members in this forum have posted their experiences regarding this matter. Go through them whenever you get time to do so.
