SSA accidentally assigned same SSN to 2 people, effect of new SSN on OPT application

Hello,
I am an F1 student about to graduate soon. I have applied for my OPT and is being processed at California service center.

Five years back when I applied for my SSN, Social Security Administration (SSA) accidentally assigned me somebody else's SSN. SSA messed it up in handling very similar names (Indian names). The problem was hidden all these days as the other person was in US and did not use his SSN for credits or for filing taxes. The problem surfaced only now and SSA is now issuing me a new SSN.

This change of SSN requires that I deal with a whole bunch of bureaucratic mess. However, at the moment my main concern is the effect this will have on my already filed OPT application.
I applied for my OPT before the problem became apparent. I had written my old SSN on the OPT application (I-765) and now that my SSN has changed, i am wondering if this will affect my OPT application.

Will this change of SSN affect my OPT application? Would SSN on I-765 really matter?
Should I notify California Service Center, regarding my changed SSN? If i do any changes, would it affect the processing time of my application?

I would appreciate your answers and opinions regarding this problem.

Thank you!
