spouses filing N-400 separately

My wife and I became eligible to apply for citizenship. However, my wife is not ready yet as we are still waiting for some documentation for her N-400 application. It will take probably at least another month. My question is whether there is any advantage / disadvantage of sending the applications together - should I wait for her or should I mail my stuff now.

Also, can anyone clarify whether a minor child of a naturalized citizen and a greecard holder becomes citizen by the action of law?

Thank you!

yup as long as he is under 18 or 16,i forgot but just double check there are a lot of threads in this forum...

Unless you have a compelling reason for doing otherwise, its probably better to file separately. Filing together causes all applications to be delayed in cases where one person gets held up by namecheck etc.

Assuming minor child(ren) are GC holders and reside in the US with their parents, they will automatically become citizens once either parent becomes a citizen. Once you have citizenship, you can apply for N-600 certificate of citizenship for the child, or simply apply for a passport for the child.

Thank you both for your responses. Our daughter will turn 18 next July and therefore I think it's better to start my process in case my wife's case gets delayed further.
