Spouse passport to be endorsed for H4

I have got the spouse passport endorsed with the my name on the passport. Her name has not been changed though
Will be applying for H4 from Chennai.
I hope it works out. Any other case studies will be useful

Could you tell what you did for getting it endorsed?

Could you tell us what you did for getting your name endorsed on your wife's passport?
Where should it be done and What are the documents required?
How long does it take?

I did get my name endorsed on to my wife's passport. It's a day's job at the Passport office at Chennai.

They just put a stamp on one of the empty pages of my wife's passport.

They need a copy of the marriage certificate and a photocopy of my passport.

I read that spouse name endorsement in passport is not required in Chennai counsulate. Its required at Mumbai and other counsulates.. Is this correct?

To answer your question, at chennai consulate the endorsement is not mandatory. But I know cases where passport was returned requesting an endorsement and also know cases where they didn't have any endorsement and still got their H4 stamped.

In the cases I know, where the chennai consualte has requested for endorsement, they didn't have a marriage certificate and just had presented the wedding photographs.

The choice is yours and hope this helps.
